State Grid Vice President Jin Wei Transfers to Aerospace Industry
Jin Wei, former Vice President and Party Leadership Group Member of State Grid Corporation of China, has been appointed as Deputy Party Secretary and Director of China Aerospace Science and Industry Corporation (CASIC). Previously, Jin served as Vice President of State Grid Anhui Electric Power Company, Chief Engineer, and Director of Equipment Management at State Grid. In January 2023, he was named a "Model Worker of State Grid for 2022" and became Vice President of State Grid in February 2023.


Guangzhou’s 2025 Key Construction Project Plan
On March 19, the Guangzhou Development and Reform Commission released the city’s 2025 Key Construction Project Plan, outlining 905 major projects with an annual investment target of 365.7 billion yuan. Key power grid projects include 220 kV and below transmission/distribution projects, 500 kV transmission projects, the Wanqingsha Southern Power Utility Tunnel (Phase I), small-scale power infrastructure projects, the Power Transmission Monitoring Center, the Zangdongnan-Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area ±800 kV UHVDC Project (Guangzhou Section), and the 220 kV Tangxia Flexible DC Back-to-Back Project.


National Energy Administration: 1.3% YoY Growth in National Electricity Consumption for Jan-Feb
As of March 18, data shows China’s electricity consumption reached 743.4 billion kWh in February, up 8.6% year-on-year. Cumulative consumption for January-February totaled 1,556.4 billion kWh, a 1.3% increase. Large-scale industrial power generation hit 1,492.1 billion kWh. By sector: primary industry (20.8 billion kWh, +8.2%), secondary industry (963.6 billion kWh, +0.9%), tertiary industry (298 billion kWh, +3.6%), and residential use (274 billion kWh, +0.1%).


Germany Unveils €500 Billion Fund Draft, Partially for Power Grid Infrastructure
On March 15, Germany proposed a fiscal plan to ease federal debt limits and establish a €500 billion special fund for infrastructure, climate protection, and defense. The draft includes revising the constitutional "debt brake" to accommodate large-scale expenditures and prioritizing investments in transportation, power grids, and other critical infrastructure.


‌Russia Launches 100 Billion Grid Modernization Initiative

Russia is advancing a decade-long, 100 billion grid modernization plan to upgrade power infrastructure in line with economic growth and energy strategy. The Ministry of Energy and national power supply enterprises are closely overseeing the phased implementation. By 2040, investments in power generation and transmission are projected to rise to 130billionand 485 billion, respectively. Key focuses include enhancing transmission lines and transformer capacity, creating new opportunities for global collaboration.
